Louisiana is known for its great seafood, and that’s fair: but when you want something fresh and vegetarian, Lafayette, LA has some awesome vegetarian restaurants you can choose from.

The Vegan Angel

The Vegan Angel lives at 104 E Kaliste Saloom Rd, inside Karma Collective, and they’re open from 10AM until 3:30PM five days a week. They’re closed on Sunday and Tuesday, and they do ask you to call ahead. You can reach them at (337) 522-5735 to put in your order: and note that they don’t have a dining room, so this is takeout only.

Come for breakfast and try their Tres Tacos, which are three soft tortillas with flour or corn, Beyond breakfast sausage, scrambled ‘Just egg, pico de Gallo, and salsa. They’ve also got great gluten-free waffles in cinnamon, oreo, and more. For lunch, you should definitely try their Fantasy Fries, which are loaded up with Impossible meat, an homemade vegan cheese sauce, grilled onions, green onions, and lots of flavor.

Scratch Farm Kitchen

This place has wonderful, locally sourced meals that are deliciously prepared by people who know food. While not a vegetarian restaurant only, this is an awesome place to go if you want to eat vegetarian, organic, and healthy. You’ll find them at 406 Garfield St, and they’re open from 9AM until 2PM from Tuesday until Saturday.

They’ve got an awesome vegan burger, but one of the best things about this place is that you can choose a variety of vegetarian-friendly proteins and add it to anything they make. Choose a veggie patty, tofu, or eggs, and get a grit bowl, a hash bowl, or maybe the KISS plate, which is two eggs, your protein, one side, and biscuit or toast. They also do fabulous peach cobbler and a great vegan blueberry pie.

Priya’s Indian Food

This spot is found at 4807 Johnston St., and they serve up some really amazing flavors with lots of healthy vegetarian options. They are open from 11 AM till 2 PM for lunch and from 5 PM until 8 PM for dinner during the week. On Saturday, they are only open for dinner, and they are closed on Sunday. They have great service, and the atmosphere is relaxed.

Try their delicious vegetable samosa, which are potatoes and peas simmered in their special house blend of spices and herbs and then fried. They also have a raw vegetable samosa, a tempered chickpea salad that’s really delicious, and a vegetable biryani you won’t want to miss. Of course, don’t miss their naan and their roti, which absolutely melts in your mouth. Roti is a type of unleavened bread, and there is nothing else quite like it.

When we have a hankering for some vegetarian food, or just something a little fresher and healthier, these are three of our favorite spots. There are other spots in town, too, and we’d be happy to tell you more about them when you stop by Service Cadillac for great service and selection of new and used vehicles.
