If online learning is becoming a challenge for you and your children, perhaps it’s time to visit the Children’s Museum of Acadiana. The Children’s Museum takes great pride in their exhibits that meet and exceed the Louisiana school curriculum benchmarks. The museum is all about encouraging learning with hands-on interactive exhibits catered to children ten years and under.

1. Happy PAWS Hospital

At the Happy PAWS Hospital, children can take on the role of a veterinarian. Stuffed animal pets are admitted and then treated by the little veterinarian, teaching children important lessons on how to care for animals. If your child is chasing the family dog around with their toy doctor bag and asking to fix their boo-boos, maybe this would be a good first stop on your tour of the museum.

2. Super 1 Grocery Store

Children can go on their own shopping trip with perfectly sized carts and shelves for them to peruse. Afterward, they can check out their own groceries at the register by typing in the numbers and the sticker color on each item of food.

3. Cafe des Enfants

Whether your child is interested in cooking, serving, or cleaning, Cafe des Enfants is the place for them. Inside this exhibit, your child can take on the role of chef, host or hostess, server, or even a dishwasher. There’s no reason why they can’t try each of those roles to see which one they like best.

4. Ami- The Acadian Ambulance

This may be one of the few times you’ll be happy your child is in an ambulance. An actual ambulance sits inside the children’s museum, with flashing lights and real supplies that children can touch with their eyes, but not with their hands.

5. Bubble Exhibit

It doesn’t matter how old you are, the bubble exhibit of any museum is the best place to visit. The Museum houses three different bubble tables as well as a bubble tower that you can stand inside. If you or your child can’t get enough of the bubbles, take a quick look through their website to find the bubble recipe that the museum uses.

Learning through play is a great way to teach your children about subjects that they may otherwise be uninterested in. There are ten other exhibits within the museum as well, ranging from the Sensory Sea to the KATC News Station and even a dentist’s office. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm and Sunday from 1:00 pm to 6:15 pm and are located at 201 E. Congress St. in Lafayette, LA.
After you’ve worn out your kids with interactive play, visit Service Cadillac and interact with some of our vehicles! We’re just a few miles away from the museum and are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. We’re located at 1212 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy in Lafayette, LA.
