5 Favorite Lafayette Parks for a Beautiful Day Out

Everybody needs to get away from it all and enjoy the great outdoors once in a while. We’re lucky here in Lafayette, LA to have plenty of beautiful parks to do exactly that. All of these spots on our list make for an excellent day out, and you won’t have to travel far and wide to find them. Take a look at our list so you know where to go when you need to get some fresh air.

1. Heymann Park

Located right in the heart of the city, this park is perfect for sports fans of all kinds. You’ll be able to shoot some hoops on the basketball court, work on your swing at the baseball field, or practice your serve and volley on their tennis courts. They’ve also got a great playground for the youngsters to enjoy here, and a jogging trail for you to get your workout in.

2. Beaullieu Dog Park

Looking for a day out that you can bring your furry friend along for? Beaullieu Dog Park is the perfect destination for you. It has plenty of room for your dog to run around and enjoy, and they’re sure to make some new friends on their visit, too. There’s also a fun playground for the kids to enjoy while you’re here on your visit.

3. Graham Brown Memorial Park

With over 50 acres of land for you to enjoy, this park has enough space to accommodate anyone. The recreation center has all sorts of games and activities for kids of all ages to enjoy. There’s also a dog-friendly area in the park, so you can bring your pet along to enjoy your day out. The pavilions make the perfect place for you to bring some food along for a picnic.

4. Acadiana Park

Whether you’re just looking for a relaxing stroll through nature, or you want to add some fun to your day out with a round of disc golf, this is the perfect destination for you. The frisbee golf course is a real highlight, stretching for acres across scenic terrain shaded by the trees here. There are also great mountain biking trails to be found here, which are perfect for any cycling enthusiasts out there.

5. Girard Park Petanque Courts

This little spot has some tranquil and quiet areas where you can just sit and take in all of nature’s beauty. There are also some fantastic hiking trails to enjoy here, whether you’re a beginner or an avid hiker. One other highlight here is the duck pond, which is well-maintained and acts as a home for a whole number of avian species. We loved watching these creatures in their natural habitat.
