Going for a swim is great fun for all ages, whether you are cooling off in the warmer months or enjoying an indoor pool when it’s chilly outside. Read on to learn about some of our favorite swimming spots to jump off the diving board, swim a few laps, or just go for a dip in Lafayette, LA.

1. O J Mouton Public Pool

This public pool, located at 1101 Mudd Ave, offers a nice selection of aquatic activities. They have both lap pools and free swim pools and provide space for swim teams and swim lessons alongside the more traditional public pool experience.

2. Dorsey Park

The Martin Luther King Recreation Center at Dorsey Park offers a nice outdoor pool. The park is the perfect spot for a day with the family, with facilities for tennis and basketball as well. You can find Dorsey Park at 309 Cora Street, but plan your trip for a weekday, as the recreation center is closed on weekends.

3. Robicheaux Recreation Center

The Earl J Chris Pool at Robicheaux Recreation Center is indoor and temperature controlled, making this the perfect stop for a dip any time of the year. There are lifeguards on site to ensure everyone is safe at all times, but be aware that the pool is closed on Saturdays. You can find Earl J Chris Pool at 1919 Eraste Landry Road.

4. Saint Martinville City Pool

This public pool is located about 15 miles southeast of Lafayette, at 501 S Theater Street in Saint Martinville. It’s a bit of a drive from Lafayette, but with Super Cruise activated, your Cadillac will get you there effortlessly and with style. The pool offers free swimming and swim lessons and even teaches a junior lifeguard class.

5. Riverside Swim Club

You will find Riverside Swim Club at 420 Corona Drive. The club does require a membership, but it’s well worth the price of a summer pass. There is an Olympic pool, a children’s pool, and a diving board. The facilities offer much more than just aquatic activities, however, including volleyball, baseball, and a large smokehouse pavilion.

Just be aware that the club is closed from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on weekdays, so if you plan on staying for some lunch at the concession stand, maybe plan a trip on the weekend.
