Sometimes pancakes sound like the perfect meal. If you love a good pancake,  Lafayette offers plenty of places that serve them, from classic to unique tastes! Here are four of the best places to get incredible pancakes in Lafayette.

1. The French Press

SAVEUR Magazine named The French Press to its list of Top 100 Inspiring Places and Things to Eat in 2013. The restaurant also made Urban Spoon’s 2013 list of Top Breakfast Restaurants in the United States. This casual dining restaurant is in downtown Lafayette, considered the core of Cajun country. It offers American and Cajun cuisine for both brunch and lunch. Pancakes are on the menu for brunch, as are chicken and waffles, Cajun Benedict, and French toast. If you want to stop by for lunch, The French Press has options such as po ‘boys, soups and salads, and BLTs.

2. T-Coons

David Billeaud , the founder of T-Coons, has ancestors who came from France to Louisiana, influencing his Cajun influence in his restaurant. He describes the flavors on the menu as “Zydeco,” a mix of Cajun and Creole influences specific to the Acadiana region in the south of Louisiana. If you’re in the mood for pancakes, you can choose from buttermilk, sweet potato, or wheat pancakes. T-Coons also offers a variety of omelets, such as crawfish, hamburger, spinach, pork roast, and bacon varieties. For those on a keto diet, the restaurant even has a special menu with low-carb, high-fat food options.

3. Waffle House

When you’re in a hurry, stop at Waffle House for a quick pancake breakfast. It offers a variety of breakfast food, including steak and eggs, omelets, and just plain eggs, if if you prefer. As the name indicates, the restaurant also has a selection of waffles, including pecan, peanut butter, and chocolate chip varieties. A popular menu item is the hashbrown bowl filled with hash browns, cheese, eggs, and sausage, which is good for those with a hearty appetite. You can also order hash browns on the side as an addition to your meal.

4. Another Broken Egg Cafe

Another Broken Egg Cafe has one of the biggest pancake selections in the area. Some of the flavors include bananas Foster, mixed berries, and lemon blueberry goat cheese pancakes. The restaurant even has gluten-free pancakes so those with gluten intolerance can still indulge. The cafe also has Belgian waffles and chocolate-stuffed Belgian waffles, as well as French toast. If you want something that’s not as sweet, you can order a lobster and brie omelet, shrimp and grits, or a Louisiana crawfish skillet.

Those who want to have a celebratory brunch can enjoy the selection of alcoholic drinks. A variety of mimosas are available, such as mango kiwi, black cherry, and apple pie. Bloody Marys are also offered; the restaurant has its own signature spicy drink as well as a cucumber Mary, lemon fennel Mary, and tomatillo Mary. Other drinks on the menu include a peach bellini, blood orange bourbon sour, and tropical sangria.
